Wheels Vault is a diecast collection app. We collect as little as we can, never sell personal data and keep ads out of the way. This page explains what leaves your phone and why.
Your account
When you open the app, it creates an anonymous account so your vault can be backed up later. If you sign in with Google, we store your email address and name from that account. You can use the app without signing in.
Your vault
The cars, lists, conditions, prices you paid or sold for, dates and notes you enter are stored on your phone. Once you sign in, they're also backed up to our database (Supabase) so they sync between your devices. Your photos and 360° spins stay on your phone.
Scanning
Barcodes and toy numbers are read on your phone. Camera images are not uploaded.
Catalog photos
Catalog photos load straight from the Hot Wheels Wiki's image servers (Fandom), so Fandom sees your IP address and which photo was asked for, as with any website image. Nothing about you or your vault is sent with the request.
Crash reports and usage
Firebase Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring and Analytics (Google) receive crash reports, app performance and usage events, such as which screens are opened. Usage events are tied to your random account ID, not your name or email. These include your device model, operating system and app version. They help us fix bugs and do not include your vault's contents.
To send notifications, the app stores a push token for your phone (Firebase Cloud Messaging) with your account ID. It identifies the app on your phone, not you, and is deleted with your account.
Ads
The free app shows a few ads from Google AdMob in places such as Catalog and the end of Stats, never on Home, Scan or anything that uses the camera. To choose, measure and limit ads, AdMob receives your phone's advertising ID, IP address, device and app details, and how you interact with the ad. It does not receive your vault, photos, scans, account or email. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and some US states), the app asks first whether ads may be personalised; you can change that answer in Profile, under Privacy options. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Google's use of this data is described in how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Early-access sign-ups
If you join the waitlist on this website, we store your email address and referral code (Cloudflare) to send launch news. You can ask us to remove it at any time.
Deleting your data
In the app, open Profile, then Account and data, then Delete account. This deletes your account and everything stored with it on our servers. If you no longer have the app, see how to delete your account.
Children
Wheels Vault is made for collectors aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you think a child has given us data, write to us and we'll delete it.
